ANNUAL CHARITY “DIGGERS’ DAY”  We would like to express our sincerest thanks to all of those members, visitors, businesses and volunteers who supported this event. A good day was had by all although the recently renovated greens made for some interesting putting. The event raised approximate $5,500 for charity. Congratulations to all the winners who are listed on the results sheet attached. We also congratulate the raffle winners and thank you for digging deep to raise money for some good causes. Thanks to those that donated prizes with particular mention to Stavros & Ellie Patreas of The Clubhouse Bistro and Michael & Rofaline Saroufim of Noi Due for their generous contribution. We would also like to thank Cathy Ryan & Johanne Staplefeldt who sold raffle tickets on the day. Special mention has to be made of David Hilton for his blistering round of 50 points off a handicap of 20. According to David, it was his best round ever and he recollects having previously shot a round of 47 points, coincidentally also on “Diggers Day”. He not only won the singles, the teams event and the time honoured Rum Cup for the best score on the back nine but his 50 points also catapults him to the top of the Handiskins Leaderboard and qualifies him for the final to be played on Saturday. Well done...

We wish to advise of a change in the catering operation effective Sunday 4th February, 2018. Joe Amendolia from Joe’s Kitchen has been the contract caterer for nearly two years and in that time was an integral part to the transformation that the club experienced that coincided with the renovations undertaken in 2016. Directors and management regularly review all areas of the business, including the contract catering. Many factors are considered during these reviews including feedback, both positive and negative, that is given by members and guests. After thorough consideration of all contributing factors it was felt that the club needed to consider other options for the catering operation and as such decided that it was in the club’s best interest to take a different direction. We would like to thank Joe and his staff for their service and wish them well in the future. So, a new year brings some exciting challenges for the club and with that I would now like to announce that Stavros Petreas and his team, including wife Ellie, of Creative Catering Solutions by Stavros have been given the opportunity to look after the catering operation. Creative Catering Solutions will look after all the catering at Massey Park including the Clubhouse Bistro as well as all club and third party functions. He brings a wealth of experience and a love of the food he creates with a Mediterranean, particularly Greek influence.  Stavros is supported by his wife Ellie as Function Co-ordinator who will also handle front of house. Both Stavros and Ellie will do their best to assist you in every way they can with catering, whether it be a meal from the Clubhouse Bistro, or at functions or special events. Change to the catering operation isn’t a painless process but it is our intention to make the transition as smooth as possible. It is also our intention to develop a positive and collaborative relationship between Massey Park and Creative Catering Solutions by Stavros in order to provide an enjoyable dining experience for members and guests and a mutually beneficial partnership for both parties. The Clubhouse Bistro will commence operation on Wednesday 7th February with a new menu that will be enhanced with some Mezze Plates to share and regular additions to the Specials Board. We would like to introduce members to Concord – Drummoyne Meals on Wheels. They are a local community organisation providing a much needed service. They deliver chilled and frozen packaged meals to people in need within the Inner West region of Sydney. The service has operated for over 45 years and would not exist without the assistance of many dedicated volunteers. They are always on the lookout for new volunteers who are always needed so if you are interested in doing some worthwhile community service please give them a ring on 9747 1135 to find out more. They also host monthly Centre Based Luncheons that have become a vital feature of what they do and are enjoyed by many members of our local community. They have a proud history and they have a special place in the hearts and homes of our community. They have had a long association with Massey Park Golf Club and are one of the beneficiaries from our annual fund raising activities.
